Investigation of charged secondaries emitted upon absorption of stopped π-mesons by carbon

Abstract One thousand interactions of stopped negative pions with carbon nuclei have been investigated using Ilford K.2 emulsion loaded with diamond chips. The results are compared with an evaporation calculation by Guthrie, Alsmiller and Bertini and estimates by Fowler and Mays.
