Research on horizontal tank capacity automatic measuring and calculating methods

Automatic measuring and calculating methods for horizontal tank capacity are presented, and the tank guiding math model is derived. The tank can be measured automatically by total station base on the guiding model, and the NURBS is used to describe the surface of the tank. A software system, for horizontal tank capacity automatic measuring and calculating, is developed. The testing experiment of measuring a real horizontal tank is done. The result proves that the system has met the designed request. The research aims at an efficient and accurate scheme for automatic measurement of horizontal tank.
