Detection of HSV and HIV Antibodies in STD Patients

1995
In order to identify the situation of HIV and HSV infection in STD patients,we detected HSV and HIV antibodies in serum samples collected from STD patients in an out-patietn department. The results showed that positive rates of serum antibodies to HSV1 and HSV2 were 59.1% and 25.0%, respectively. 25 N. gonorrhoeae strains were isolated from 88 clinical samples. There are certain correlations between gonococcal infection and positive HSV2 antibody (P<0.01). No HIV infection was detected in 88 clinical serum samples.
