RESULTS: In the studied patient groups stage II hypertension (71%) was predominant, diabetes was associated with hypertension in 21% of the cases. Negative correlation was obtained between serum creatinine and the MDRD creatinine or creatinine eGFR, and positive correlation between MDRD-creatinine and eGFR-creatinine, and also between MDRD-creatinine and MDRD-cystatin C (p<0.0001). 80% of the patients present pathological levels of creatinine-MDRD. The distribution of body mass index showed the highest percentage of overweight and grade I obese patients. CONCLUSIONS: Most patients present some kidney disorder, for the diagnosis of renal diseases formulas for evaluation of glomerular filtration are very helpful. Cystatin C is a reliable marker of renal function, showing early nephropathy, therefore it would be useful to enter the diagnostic arsenal in justified cases.
