Display panel and liquid crystal display device

Disclosed is a display panel wherein, without a process to remove an alignment film, the adhesive strength of a sealant can be improved and moisture transmission by the alignment film can be reduced. Said display panel is provided with a pair of substrates bonded together with a sealant interposed therebetween. At least one of the substrates comprises a transparent resin film and an alignment film laminated together. The edge surfaces of said transparent resin film have a reverse taper shape. The alignment film is separated at said edge surfaces, and the transparent resin film and the sealant are bonded to each other without the alignment film interposed therebetween.
