The mitotic process of Giardia lamblia trophozoites

2010
Giardia lamblia has two obvious nuclei,a typical nuclear membrane structure, and a complex cytoskeletal system and reproduces mainly by way of mitosis, but the nuclear membrane does not fully disintegrate during the division process,i.e.semi-open mitosis.Although Giardia lamblia has a very small nucleus and relatively rapid rate of cell division, whether or not it can form typical aggregated metaphase chromosomes and the number and shape of those chromosomes are not yet clear.Mitosis in Giardia lamblia has recently garnered attention at home and abroad. This paper summarizes the process of mitosis in terms of both karyokinesis and cytokinesis in Giardia trophozoites.
