Liquid crystal aligning agent and liquid crystal alignment film using same

Provided is a liquid crystal aligning agent which is capable providing a coating film that has excellent uniformity of film thickness in a coated surface and excellent linearity in the periphery of a coated portion. This liquid crystal aligning agent is particularly suitable for coating by an inkjet method. A liquid crystal aligning agent which is characterized by containing: at least one polymer that is selected from the group consisting of polyimides and polyimide precursors; and a solvent that contains an alkyl cellosolve acetate compound represented by formula (1). (In the formula, R 1 represents an alkyl group having 1-8 carbon atoms.)
