Polymerization of methyl methacrylate photosensitized by the systems derived from isobutyl ester of p-benzophenonecarboxylic acid and dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate-methyl methacrylate copolymer

1998
Copolymers with tertiary amino side groups were synthesized by thermal copolymerization of MMA with dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate. Photosensitized MMA polymerization was carried out in the presence of donor-acceptor systems with a variable ratio of the acceptor (isobutyl ester of p-carboxylic acid) and donor (dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate-methyl methacrylate copolymer). A suggestion is made about the possible structures of photocopolymers and about the chemical process of their formation depending on the content of dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate-methyl methacrylate copolymer in the donor-acceptor system.
