EXAFS, X-Ray, and Neutron Diffraction of Electrolyte Solutions

1984
Since ionic hydration is an important phenomenon in many chemical reactions and in biological systems, the structure of hydrated ions has been extensively investigated so far. In particular, X-ray and neutron diffraction methods have played a principal role for that purpose. Recently, an extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) method has been a useful probe of the short-range order in solutions.
