Enhancement Technology of Terrain Visualization Based on DEM

The terrain visualization is an important component for terrain visualization expres-sion,virtual geographic environments and virtual reality.The paper focused on how to take the advantages of the Digital Elevation Model(DEM) and Digital Terrain Analysis(DTA) to en-hance terrain visualization.At the same time,the paper shows the terrain visualization map used different enhancement technology,which including the directly enhanced elevation,the three-dimensional shading based on slope and aspect,the details of carving techniques.With the enhanced terrain visualization expression effects,it can provide users with more intuitive and accurate cognitive terrain.
