20th Lenna Frances Cooper Memorial Lecture: Nutrition: an integral aspect of medical education.

: Meaningful and effective clinical nutrition must be solidly rooted in the concept that nutrition is an essential component of health, health care, and life itself. During the past decade a variety of factors have contributed to a definite movement toward greater emphasis on nutrition in medical education. More and more registered dietitians are involved in professional collaboration with physicians in nutrition education. In accepting the challenges of the 1980s, we have come to realize the positive and dynamic role that is ours to play in the movement of increased emphasis on nutrition education for physicians and other health care professionals.
