Health promotion leadership in Australia - 2004 and beyond

2004
As Australia prepares to host the 18th World Conference on Health Promotion and Health Education in Melbourne (26-30 April 2004), it is timely to reflect on the directions in health promotion as seen by Australia's health promotion leaders in the States and Territories and to consider the challenges for the future. Health promotion directors of State and Territory government health promotion units and foundations have responsibility for advancing effective health promotion approaches within the health sector and in partnership with other sectors. A greater insight into the key imperatives driving health promotion in the government sector and in the foundations can inform planning and practice by individuals and organisations and help build momentum for an even stronger collaborative approach to health promotion in Australia.
