Effect of hydrostatic pressure on the electrical conductivity of Ag3SBr and β-Ag3SI

1974
The electrical conductivity of Ag3SBr and β-Ag3SI has been measured as a function of hydrostatic pressure up to 3.15 × 108 N m–2 in the temperature range 293 to 373 K. The activation volumes obtained at 303 K are – 1.2 ± 0.6 cm3 mol–1 for Ag3SBr and – 2.3 ± 0.4 cm3 mol–1 for β-Ag3SI. For Ag3SBr the activation volume becomes more positive as temperature rises whereas for β-Ag3SI it becomes more negative with increasing temperature.
