PVD-beschichtete Wälzlager und ihre Ermüdungslebensdauer

After having shown that PVD-coatings significantly contribute to wear reduction in rolling bearings, the Institute for Machine Elements and Machine Design is now examining its impact on rolling contact fatigue lifetime. Investigations are done with cylindrical roller bearings, type NU 206, under high radial loads (C / P = 2.4) and mixed friction conditions. For some PVD-coatings, in fact a reduction of rolling contact fatigue lifetime was observed. However, the investigations have also shown that under certain conditions a strong enhancement of lifetime is possible.
