Hardness Test Method and Technique of Alloy Plating Layer

The specimen preparation process and key points for plating layer hardness test of piston, piston ring and bearing liner was introduced. It was stressed that correct preparing specimen is the base of plating layer hardness test. The error source of Vickers hardness test was analyzed, and the principle to follow for the test load selection was pointed out, as well as a discussion was conducted on the plating hardness test methods of bearing liner, piston ring and piston to show that correct selection of plating layer hardness test method is most important.
