Synthesis and properties of (1-x)PZN-xBZN solid-solution compounds by liquid-evaporation method

1994
Solid-solution compounds of (1- x)PZN- xBZN were synthesized by a spray-drying method, which is one of the liquid-evaporation methods. The morphology and size of metal nitrate powders could be changed by processing by the spray-drying method. More than 10 mol% BZN was needed to stabilize the 100% perovskite phase with the method. Lattice parameters of perovskite structure increased with the amount of Ba substitution. Comparing the liquid-evaporation method and the solid-state reaction method, the reaction rate is faster and the dielectric constants of sintered samples are higher in the liquid-evaporation method. Maximum dielectric constants at room temperature showed a value of about 9200 which was about 2000 higher than in the conventional solid-state reaction method, and a dissipation factor of 2–4% at room temperature was observed.
