The invention relates to a display device (12) for a motor vehicle (10) comprising a display area (14) having a display surface (16) for displaying a display content, characterized by at least two display areas (A, B) of the display surface (14), and a folding means (18) which is adapted to fold the display surface means (14). The folding device (18) may optionally include a rail member (22) extending parallel to an extending direction of one of the display areas (A, B) and arranged in parallel, sliding, and a lever member (24) having a first end (25) and a second end (23), wherein the first end (25) on the rail member (22) is arranged, and at least one retaining element (26) on the other display area (a, B), which is foldable, and the second end (23) of the lever member (24) is arranged.
