The embodiment of the invention provides the method for processing the Diameter message. The method comprises the following steps that a CSCF (Call State Control Function) judges whether the Diameter message to be sent to an HSS (Home Subscriber Server) is a Diameter initial message or not; and if the Diameter message is the Diameter initial message, the CSCF transmits the Diameter message which carries an initial message identifier to the HSS. By the method provided by the embodiment of the invention, when the HSS performs overload processing, whether the received Diameter message is the Diameter initial message or not can be directly identified, so that the processing load for the HSS to perform overload processing is reduced.
