Guía de diseño de espacios laborales para personas con diversidad funcional: personas usuarias de sillas de ruedas en áreas administrativas de las empresas

2017
The social, cultural and labor inclusion of people with disabilities is a priority and a commitment, not only for government but also for society, and for all the professionals from related disciplines on these issues - health, design, engineering, and ergonomics, among others. This research is associated with an interest, from health and ergonomics, about the functional diversity and workplace inclusion. From this interest, arises the idea of developing a guide to design accessible workplaces for people in wheelchairs. The research considered as a contextual reference, the Colombian law and the spirit of corporate social responsibility (CSR) that inspires law integration of persons with disabilities. The study welcomes the holistic concept of disability, according to which, the origin of the disability is not the person, but the conditions of their environment and the lack of opportunities for inclusion. The design of the guide has been supported on: ergonomics concepts, Universal Design principles, and preliminary studies of accessibility of workplaces for people with disabilities. And it is also supported on characterizing the user profile, the objectual and spatial environment of his potential jobs in administrative positions, and the activities in those positions. The guide provides criteria for the evaluation and design of accessible workplaces.
