Ada (Trade Name) Foundation Technology. Volume 1. Overview of Requirements for WIS (WWMCCS (World Wide Military Command and Control System) Information System) Prototype Software Development Projects.
1986
Abstract : Several projects have been planned to prototype foundation technologies for the World Wide Military Command and Control System (WWMCCS) Information System (WIS) using the Ada programming language. The purpose for developing these prototypes is to produce software components that: a) Demonstrate the functionality required by WIS: b) Use the Ada programming language to provide maximum possible portability, reliability, and maintainability consistent with efficient operation; and c) Maintain consistency with current and in-process software standards. Foundation areas in which prototypes have been developed, and the volumes containing more detailed specifications, include the following: a)Command language prototypes (Volume II); b) Software design, description, and analysis tools prototypes (Volume III); c) Text processing prototypes (Volume IV); d) Database management system prototypes (Volume V); e) Operating systems prototypes (Volume VI) f) Planning and optimization tools (Volume VII); g) Graphics system prototypes (Volume VIII); and h) Network protocols prototypes (Volume IX). This report describes requirements for prototype projects in each of the eight foundation areas. More detailed functional specifications and associated references are contained in subsequent volumes (Volumes II-IX).
