Nodular sclerotic lymphosarcoma a possible new clinico-pathological entity

1969
During an investigation of patients with lymphosarcoma, it was noticed that a number had lymph nodes, otherwise typical of diffuse lymphosarcoma, which were characterised by marked fibrous banding and nodular sclerosis. This feature does not appear to have been described previously. This fibrosis was seen most commonly between the 5th and 7th decades and was not seen before the 4th decade. Women were affected more commonly than was the case with diffuse lymphosarcoma. Most patients with nodular sclerotic lymphosarcoma presented with glands in the groin or retroperitoneum. This variant of lymphosarcoma appears to be less malignant than that showing diffuse infiltration of the lymph node without fibrous banding and the prognosis approximates to that of follicular lymphoma.
