Efficacy analysis of 31 patients with filamentary kerotopathy treated by heated cautery

Objective To observe the safety and therapeutic effect of filamentary keratopathy treated with heated cautery. Methods Commonly used cautery was heated by spirit lamp for 5-7seconds,then the root of filamentary keratopathy was cauterized by heated cautery and become white concretion and cast. Results Subjective symptoms of all cases disappeared 3 days after treatment,followed up for half to two years,and only 2 cases recurred after half month and one year. Conclusions Filamentary keratopathy treated with heated cautery is good at short course,quick recovery,high therapeutic effect and low recurrence rate.It is a safe and effective treatment method.
