Diffuse Intramural Esophageal Pseudodiverticulosis: New Cases and Review

1977
Diffuse intramural esophageal "diverticulosis" was ftrst described in 1960 by Mendl et al. 1 The term pseudodiverticulosis is more accurate because the radiological outpouchings are now demonstrated to be circumscribed to the mucosal layer ofthe esophagus.2-5 Since the original description, there have been 27 cases described in the literature. The purpose of this paper is to describe 2 additional cases and to review in some detail all the previous reported cases.
