Class 1OMP subtyping of meningococci

Ninety-six group B meningococci including reference strains from around the globe were screened with a panel of monoclonal antibodies (McAbs) for the presence of class 1 OMP specific epitopes using a whole-cell-ELISA. McAbs specific for P1.1, P1.2, P1.3, P1.9, P1.15, P1.16 and McAbs with more cross-reactive activity were included. Most strains could be subtyped by the McAbs used and a fairly complete subtyping system can be realized in the near future.
