A first record of Isistius plutodus in the north-eastern Atlantic

The genus Isistius (Dalatiidae, Squaliformes; Shirai, 1992) consists of two recentspecies, the cookiecutter shark Isistius brasiliensis (Quoy & Gaimard) and thelargetooth cookiecutter shark Isistius plutodus Garrick & Springer (Compagno,1984). Bite marks ofsome 5–7cm diameter in large fishes and marine mammalsare indicators ofthe presence ofIsistius spp. Isistius brasiliensis is a frequentlycaught shark in tropical and subtropical regions in all oceans.
