Assessment of Brain Perfusion in Stroke Patients with Echo Contrast Enhanced Transcranial Ultrasound: Preliminary Results
2005
20 fasted healthy volunteers were injected with a single bolus of SonoVue (1.2mL) iv. Images of the liver and right kidney, and spleen and left kidney were obtained intermittently over 5 mins using low MI scanning [Vascular Recognition Imaging (VRI) Aplio, Toshiba]. VRI depicts stationary microbubbles in a green color. The amount of SonoVue was quantified by calculating the proportionate green pixel count in the ROI for each organ over time, designated the %total uptake (TU). Relative uptake (RU) was calculated as the ratio of the %total uptake of the liver (to the right kidney, RK) and spleen (to left kidney, LK).
