A LFMCW Radar System with Time-frequency Analysis for Motion Tracking

2018
A LFMCW radar system operating at X band is presented in this paper, which is applied to detecting and tracing moving subject in the crowded environment. Two kinds of frequency generation techniques, digital PLL and sampling PLL, are used in radar front-end for enhancing noise performance and stability. Smacq USB-4600 data acquisition board is used to sample the IF signal. MATLAB is the tool for time-frequency analysis in order to obtain velocity-time map on the basis of 2D-fft. In this paper, a man running in the hallway has been chosen to be the target for detection. The experiment proves the potential application of this system in obtaining target's motion information at a discretionary moment as well as time-varying moving state during a period.
