"A Comparison of the U.S. and Canadian Wage Adjustment Mechanisms : 1948-1967"

The determinants of money wage changes in both the U.S. and Canada have been the subject of considerable discussion and analysis.1 As the major concern of these studies was the formulation of policy re garding the wage-price « trade-off », no study has been made attempting to compare the wage adjustment mechanisms of the two countries using the same variables over identical time period. The latter comparison will be our primary concern.
