Halogenated phthalic anhydride preparation

1994
A halogenated phthalic anhydride is produced by reacting phthalic anhydride with a molecular halogen in the vapour phase in the presence of a zeolite catalyst. It can be obtained simply and efficiently at a relatively low temperature without dehydration and discharge of a large quantiW of waste water; and is useful as an intermediate.
