O Processo de Implantação de um Serviço Residencial Terapêutico no município de São Paulo

Among the points of attention that make up the Network of Psychosocial Care we highlight the Residential Therapeutic Service used as a strategy of deinstitutionalization for subjects who are long-term psychiatric hospitalizations. Objective: To understand the process of implantation of a Therapeutic Residential Service in the city of Sao Paulo, in the health services of reference in the territory professional’s perspectives, as well as of the regional management, involved in this process. Methodology: descriptive and qualitative research, carried out with nine subjects from four different professional categories - active in the planning and implantation period of this Residential Therapeutic Service. Semi-structured interviews were conducted. The data were analyzed using the thematic analysis technique. Results: Three empirical categories emerged: work process, deinstitutionalization and psychosocial care network. Conclusion: The Therapeutic Residential Service is powerful in relation to the return of the basic right to a dignified life, which allows the emergence of the subjectivity of the individual in the collective environment itself, the exchange of identity, the increase of autonomy and the activation of desires. The articulation and strengthening of the care network are paramount in the process of deinstitutionalization. The total institution is present in the life of these subjects and it is necessary that the asylum operation is not reproduced even outside the walls of the hospital.
