Medición de la saturación de oxígeno y flujo espiratorio máximo como valores predictivos para la evolución de crisis asmáticas en niños

Prospective study, longitudinal, observational, comparative in 50 children, 30 male, 20 female from 5 through 18 years of age with clinical diagnosis of acute moderate asthma, oxygen saturation and expiratory peak flow were determine at the first evaluation, 30 minutes, 2, 4 and 24 hours after the administration of nebulized albuterol, in order to find out a prognosis value in the evolution of there patients. Only two patients were admitted to the emergency room. ED was found between basal oxygen saturation at the 2, 4 and 24 hours determination (p = 0.01) and the basal and 24 hours determination of expiratory peak flow (P = 0.01). Conclusion: Only the oxygen saturation has a predictive prognosis value for acute asthma.
