Synthesis of styryl substituted semicarbazides under microwave irradiation

The synthesis of the title semicarbazides (IV) and (VI) (16 examples in all) is accomplished employing the Curtius rearrangement of cinnamoyl azide (I) followed by nucleophile addition of hydrazides to the NCO moiety under microwave conditions.
