The invention relates to a preparation method of carbon nanotube fibers with high tensile strength and belongs to the technical field of nanometer materials. The preparation method comprises the first step of preparing primary carbon nanotubes; the second step of functionalizing the carbon nanotubes and conducting plasma treatment on the primary carbon nanotubes through ethylene diamine or propylene diamine to obtain functionalized carbon nanotubes, wherein helium or nitrogen or oxygen is adopted as carrier gas in the plasma treatment process; the third step of making carbon nanotube fibers subjected to crosslinking reaction; the fourth step of removing organic diluents at the temperature between 50 DEG C and 200 DEG C to obtain the carbon nanotube fibers with high tensile strength. Compared with the prior art, the preparation method has the advantages that amino-functionalized carbon nanotubes are obtained, and the tensile strength is further enhanced by twisting a certain angle; by the adoption of a mixed solution of glycidyl amine and diluents, epoxy groups on the surface of the glycidyl amine can easily make contact with amino of the amino-functionalized carbon nanotubes and achieve crosslinking, so that the crosslinking rate is increased.
