Behandeling Van Het Uitgebreid Euthyroid Struma Bij Volwassenen Op Leeftijd

1967
SummaryCertain forms of euthyroid goitre may be considered for treatment with radioactive iodine, especially when surgery is contraindicated because of deterioration of general condition or of to great extension of the goitre. Referring to the results of Horst et al. 2 the authors treated 20 similar cases with radioactive iodine. The mean dose was 40 mC corresponding to about 12,000 rads deposited within the thyroid gland. Their results are excellent for some cases and adequate for the others, with the exception of one case, evolving to a condition of hypofunction. The symptoms of compression disappeared in every patient.
