Determination of Aortic Valve Area:A Simplification of the Method of Gorlin and Gorlin

In valvular aortic stenosis, the valve area can be determined by the formula of Gorlin &Gorlin. Using this formula, determination of the mean ejection gradient by planimetry is necessary. This article presents a formula for calculation of the gradient without planimetry. The determination of aortic valve area is thus simplified.
