Pressure effect on spin-glass behavior in Ce0.9Er0.1Al2

2017
Abstract The dc magnetization and ac susceptibility of the Laves phase compound Ce 0.9 Er 0.1 Al 2 have been measured at ambient and high pressures up to 1.1 GPa. The ac susceptibility shows a peak at around T f ~ 2.5 K, and T f shifts to higher temperatures with an increase in the measuring frequency. Below T f , the zero-field-cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) dc magnetizations separate from each other. Furthermore, long-time magnetic relaxation behavior is observed. These results indicate that a spin-glass state is formed below T f . We found that the T f determined by dc magnetization measurement decreases with an increase in pressure.
