details are provided about various dosage options for medications. The question of primary versus secondary hyperlipoproteinemia is a more common problem than this book implies. The differential diagnosis between primary and secondary hyperlipoproteinemia, including treatment options and expected changes in lipid levels, is not covered in adequate depth. In addition, what is the appropriate advice for an asymptomatic patient who has several risk factors relative to the development of atherosclerosis? Should a major dietary change, more exercise, and cessation of cigarette smoking be recommended concomitantly? Noncompliance becomes a problem in asymptomatic patients when several major changes are advised at the same time. Despite these questions, I recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about hyperlipoproteinemia and atherosclerosis.
