La vieillesse romantique

This article binds together the study of French “romantic auctorial scenographies” (Jose-Luis Diaz) with the question of the same authors’ “late style” (Edward Said) at the end of their career. Therefore, I analyze how writers like Victor Hugo, George Sand or Barbey d’Aurevilly, when they have become old, shifted and interiorized preoccupations of the early Romanticism in the light of their own experience, as well as they reinvented their public image.
