SVT-AVS3: Scalable Video Technology of AVS3

In this demo, a novel AVS3 8K encoder is presented, namely SVT-AVS3. Based on the Intel® Scalable Video Technology (SVT) architecture, the proposed encoder achieves an optimal trade-off among coding performance, encoding speed and visual quality. In particular, SVT-AVS3 carefully considers multidimensional parallelism and perceptual based rate-distortion optimization. Simulation results show that SVT-AVS3 can support 8K-UHD real-time encoding at 10-bit depth with bit rate up to 100Mbps and significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art x265 encoder. Furthermore, a series of preset levels are delicately designed to satisfy the increasing diversity of services, especially for the 8K-UHD scenarios.
