Effect of Carbon Layers Deposited by PACVD and RMS Methods on Corrosion Resistance of Ni-Ti Alloy

2021
This paper presents results of corrosion resistance of the modified Ni-Ti alloy. The proposed surface modification consisted of the following treatments: grinding, mechanical polishing, and deposition of carbon coatings. Application of the carbon coatings was performed using two methods (RF PACVD and RMS), and applying different parameters. Corrosion resistance of implant alloys is a key determinant of their biocompatibility. Therefore, the aim of the study was to determine the influence of the proposed surface modification methods, including various application parameters of the carbon coatings, on resistance to pitting corrosion with the use of potentiodynamic method.
