PURPOSE: To reproducibly attain a grafting having a good quality by starting from a dil. soln. of a perfluoroalkylhalosilane or a perfluoroalkylalkoxysilane in a mixture of organic solvents and maintaining the temp. of the total reaction process at a temp. equal to or lower than the critical temp. Tc specific to the used organosilane. CONSTITUTION: In a silylation of a hydrated solid surface by an organic soln. of an organosilane of the formula (in the formula, R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are identical with or different from each other, each represents a halogen atom, a 1-3C alkoxy group or a 1-2C alkyl group, and at least one of R 1 , R 2 and R 3 is a halogen atom or an alkoxy group, (a) is 1-10, (b) is 0-2 and Q is a single or double bond), the reaction is carried out at a temp. equal to or lower than the critical temp.
