A novel red Y2MoSiO8:Eu3+ phosphor with high thermal stability for white LEDs

2019
Abstract A novel Eu 3+ ion-doped yttrium silicomolybdic (Y 2 MoSiO 8 ) phosphor was prepared by traditional high-temperature solid-state reaction at 1200 °C. XRD analysis verified the phosphor had a pure tetragonal structure. The morphology, photo-luminescent (PL), lifetime, color rendering, and stability properties of the phosphor were investigated. When excited under 395 nm, Y 2 MoSiO 8 :Eu 3+ phosphor can emit red light that peaks at 618 nm and 595 nm. The concentration of Eu 3+ ions has an important effect on the emission intensity of phosphor, and the optimal molar fraction of Eu 3+ ions is 0.12. The phosphors also exhibit high thermal stability with an activity energy Δ E value of 0.29 eV. The results indicate that Y 2 MoSiO 8 :Eu 3+ phosphor is a potential candidate for white LEDs.
