COMPARISON OF PLASMA THEOPHYLLINE CONCENTRATION BETWEEN THEOLONG® AND SLO-BID® IN ASTHMATIC CHILDREN

1997
We have investigated the difference of pharmachokinetics between Theolong® 100mg tablet and Slobid® 100mg capsel dosing at 12-hour intervals comparing in 9 asthmatic children using a cross-over method. Theophylline concentration were measured on 7th day and 14th day at 0, 3, 6, 9 and 12hr after the morning dose of theophyline. There was no significant difference in the plasma theophylline level of each time. In the case of Theolong®, the mean maximum serum concentration (Cmax) was significantly higher. In the case of Slo-bid®, peak-trough difference was significantly lower. And there were no significant differences in the area under the curve (AUC), the mean minimum serum concentration (Cmin) and the mean time to reach Cmax (Tmax).
