Groove Gap Waveguides: A contactless solution for multilayer slotted-waveguide array antenna assembly

In this paper the benefits of using Groove Gap Waveguides (GGW) in the design of multilayer slotted-waveguide array antennas are presented. Groove Gap Waveguide do not need electrical contact between metal parts to confine the field, which facilitates the manufacturing process. This characteristic of the GGW becomes specially important for the millimeter-wave band, where antennas are becoming smaller and manufacturing tolerances more severe.
