Quantitative Evaluation of the Decoupling Principle Between Two PIFAs by Using CMA

2021
In the previous study, we have proposed a novel decoupling method that does not require the adjustment of the original antennas by using parasitic elements (PEs), but the decoupling principle of the proposed method is not quantitatively evaluated. In this study, the usefulness of Characteristic Mode Analysis is utilized to quantitatively evaluate the decoupling principle of proposed method. The results show that inner product between the currents of port#1 and port#2 after using PEs is close to zero compared to that of before using PEs. In other words, PEs make these currents orthogonal to each other for decoupling.
