Dynamic modeling of "KOSOVO A" power station synchronous generator

This paper presents dynamic three-phase d-q axis modeling and simulation of "KOSOVO A" power station synchronous generator intended for transient analysis and relay protections parameters determination, taking into account the static and dynamic interactions between stator and rotor. A simplified and computationally efficient five order mathematical model is developed under the assumption that the Kirchhoff laws and the network equations are written as for stationary state. The generator is analyzed in "abc" coordinates to describe the physical inherent of three-phase short circuit. A system of differential equations representing the dynamic behavior of the machine is developed and implemented in Matlab/Simulink. The proposed model and case study provide important and valuable results for the generator relay protection settings, allowing an easy setup of the relay protections parameters by referring the results obtained in this work.
