The Rapid Rotation of the Wind Direction and Sharp Ozone Peak Features

1987
The diurnal evolution of the ozone concentration follows generally the well known pseudosinusoidal curve. However, sharp accidents are often observed, that may have a variety of origins. Such accident are sometimes observed in natural areas. From field measurements obtained in different areas, it is shown that sharp increases in ozone concentration can be frequently attributed to the transit of a polluted air mass, during a short period of time, in a rapidly rotating wind system.
