Influence of post-ringing period on auxin activity, carbohydrate and nitrogen contents in ringed shoot cuttings of cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.).

1990
Auxin activity, carbohydrate and nitrogen contents in pre-girdled shoot cuttings from 4-year-old cashew plants were analysed. There was an appreciable increase in auxin activity with duration of the post-ringing period up to 180 days. The reducing and non-reducing sugars and total nitrogen contents of the cuttings also showed a similar trend. At the root initiation stage, all these components were reduced, suggesting their involvement in the rooting process
