Chicken Harder's gland: Evidence for a relatively pure bursa-dependent lymphoid cell population
1973
Abstract The ability of lymphoid cells obtained from chicken Harder's gland, spleen, and blood to mount a graft-versus-host reaction (GVHR) on the chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) of histoincompatible embryos was compared. In five out of 6 experiments Harder's gland lymphoid cells had 3% or less of the reactivity of spleen or peripheral blood cells. This suggests that the Harders' gland may be a good source of peripheral B cells, relatively free of T cells.
