The Production Possibility of Permanent Magnet High Speed Electric Generator Rotors

At present there has appeared to be a tendency of high speed permanent magnet electric generators application. Rotor rotation frequency of such generators amounts to 100 000 rpm. Large axial thrusts, capable to destroy a machine act upon permanent magnets at such rotation frequencies. This paper deals with the replacement possibility of traditional rotor bandage from high-tensile steel for the bandage made by winding method from composite material. Different composite materials: glass fibre plastic and carbon-filled plastic were analyzed. It is noted that to use carbon-filled plastic is most appropriate.
